May the Fourth May Day Potluck

May 4 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

May the force of resistance be with you this May Day, and every day!

Join Punch Up Collective and your favourite radicals in Ottawa for an intergalactic, intergenerational celebration of May Day and our diverse histories of struggle and resistance!

May Day is a really important holiday for us, marking as it does the noble history of people who have in the past and who in the present come together to make this world a more just, livable, and delightful place for everyone. Also, who can resist delicious food and a delightful Star Wars pun? There’s too much inspiring and meaningful stuff going on in the world to name, but we can talk about it AT THE POTLUCK!

Let’s get together to share stories, make new friends, and collectively imagine possibilities for worlds beyond capitalism and colonialism.

Costumes welcome! (Not limited to Star Wars!) We will have a fabulous collaborative mural to color and draw on, sketched out by brilliant local artist Bia, lego to play with, face-painting, and hopefully other space-themed activities.

There will be people who eat vegan, some who have some mild nut allergies (only if they ingest particular nuts), potentially one kid with strong allergies to sesame and other things, folks who eat everything, and some who’re avoiding gluten, so we’ll have stuff on hand for labelling what you bring. For all kids at this potluck, ask their adults before you feed them any food!

Punch Up will bring a few spare plates and cutlery, but because this is an experiment with having a potluck in a public space, please bring your own dishes and utensils to use for eating. There will be a kitchen space where you can wash things before taking them home again.

You’re totally welcome to come and just eat, not bring anything, because there is always too much food!

Kids, friends, lovers, and others all welcome.

We’ll post the location and accessibility information as soon as we have it confirmed!
