MayWorks is a festival of working class culture that is rooted in an understanding that workers share a common struggle for justice, and that the arts are an important means of advancing this struggle.

May 1st is marked throughout the world as International Workers’ Day, or May Day. A day when the workers of the world take to the streets in every major city around the globe to expose the impact of capitalism and to demand justice, and dignity for all.

MayWorks Ottawa plans to host a program of activities again in 2019 with the goal of encouraging communities in struggle including indigenous, racialized, and precarious communities to mark May Day and to express their experiences of working class struggle through the arts.
